Blue Jays say 'goodbye' to Buffalo

Sahlen Field

BUFFALO (WBEN) - After more than a month-and-a-half of playing their home games at Sahlen Field, the Toronto Blue Jays' time in Buffalo came to an end Wednesday evening.

The game may not have gone as planned, losing to the Boston Red Sox 7-4, but the salute to the crowd after the final out signaled the finality of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Western New Yorkers to witness Major League Baseball in their beloved city with their own eyes.

Buffalo baseball fans showed out Wednesday night with the largest crowd since the Blue Jays came back to the City of Good Neighbors, with an attendance of 14,607.

In fact, the average attendance of games at Sahlen Field during the run was about 7,700, which is a higher average attendance than the Miami Marlins, Oakland Athletics, and Tampa Bay Rays.

But now attention turns to the future, because in just a few weeks, the Bisons make their return to Sahlen Field for the first time since 2019.

Single game tickets for the remaining Bisons home games go on sale on July 26 at 10 a.m., days before the Blue Jays returns to Canada. The game against the Red Wings will start at 7:05 p.m.
