Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Catholic Health is cutting forty jobs across its Administrative & Regional Training Center on Genesee Street, Mercy Hospital, Mount St. Mary's, Sisters of Charity Hospital, and St. Joseph Campus. There's a chance some of those employees will fill other open positions at other Catholic Health facilities. They're also realigning 34 positions at Mercy Hospital due to an increase in volume in the Emergency Department. In a statement, Catholic Health said rising costs, increased regulations and changing models of care are putting pressure on healthcare providers across the country, and technological advances have led to shorter hospital stays and procedures moving to outpatient clinics.
The former home of Fantasy Island has been listed for sale by HUNT Commercial Real Estate for just under $5 million. Several rides and attractions are still standing at the 75-acre property, including the Silver Comet rollercoaster. The site was most recently home to Niagara Amusement Park & Splash World, which didn't open this summer because of declining attendance and revenue.

NOCO opens its new Fuel and Fleet Maintenance Building this Friday morning at 9, followed by an open house. The facility is located at 2315 Kenmore Avenue in Buffalo.
