Local gas prices are inching back up. The AAA pegs the current cost for a gallon of unleaded gas in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area at $3.42. That's up two cents from the price one week ago. It's also three cents lower than the cost for a gallon of unleaded one year ago.
A $16.18 million project converting Wheatfield's C.E. Welch Building into an apartment-anchored building has gotten the village board's approval. Business First reports partners Savarino Cos. and Rant LLC of St. Louis are expected to begin work on the project by late summer, once all of the financing is in place. The transformation includes 46 apartments and street-level commercial space.
Power City Ventures LLC of Amherst is purchasing properties from the city of Niagara Falls. Business First reports the firm intends to restore the units, making them into tourist rental locations. In separate deals, Power City Ventures has bought a dozen homes throughout the city.
