Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The former Sumitomo Rubber plant in Tonawanda has officially been sold to Hwa Fong Rubber. The site will now be known as HF Industrial Park. Hwa Fong will use the facility for what they describe as a mix of local, national and international operations. Rubber car products, wheel parts, transmissions and more will be assembled at the plant.
A piece of vacant land at the corner of Swan and Chicago Streets in Buffalo has been purchased by Swan Chicago LLC. Early plans for the site include town homes, with the eventual addition of mixed-use buildings. Swan Chicago principal Alexander Burgos says the project carries a personal significance as he grew up less than a block away from the location.
Basketball hall of famer Shaquille O'Neal is bringing his DJ Diesel alter ego back to Buffalo Riverworks in July. Tickets for the electronic music show go on sale Friday morning.
Mount Mercy Academy has named Margaret Staszak Interim Head of School. She's replacing Michele Melligan, who recently left the academy.
