New summer carnival coming to Downtown Niagara Falls

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A new summer carnival is coming to Old Falls Street in Downtown Niagara Falls next Friday, June 19th through Sunday the 21st. The carnival is designed to be affordable and family friendly with food trucks, rides, games and live entertainment. Destination Niagara USA says the carnival is part of an ongoing effort to bring more people to Downtown Niagara Falls throughout the summer. All-day ride wristbands will be $30 with a $5 discount for people with a 716 area code. The carnival runs 5pm-10pm Friday, 12pm-10pm Saturday and 12pm-8pm Sunday.

Project Play Western New York has awarded more than $83,000 in grants across 13 organizations to support summer programming for youth. YMCA Buffalo Niagara received the largest amount of $14,560. A full list of recipients and amounts is below:

  • Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church – $6,000
  • Resource Council of WNY, Inc. – $5,000
  • Rural Outreach Center (ROC) – $5,600
  • Sensational Fun, Inc. – $5,000
  • YMCA Buffalo Niagara – $14,560
  • Youth Advantage/Buffalo Legacy Project – $5,000

The National Grid Foundation is awarding a $428,000 grant to Buffalo Go Green for the development of its Pathways 360 program. The program's goal is support young people across Western New York who want a career in agriculture or food systems.

Invest Buffalo Niagara has started the search for its next President & CEO. The position pays $200-225,000 per year based on experience and qualifications. Invest Buffalo Niagara is a privately funded economic development group.
