DC Protests Don't Disrupt Market

Despite the chaotic scenes in Washington, the Dow closed at a record high yesterday. Small-company stocks did especially well as investors ploughed money into businesses that would be winners if Democrats can pump even more financial stimulus into the economy after Republicans lose control of Congress.

The pandemic has been bad for beer, but good for spirits and hard liquor - and to a lesser extent - wine.  Data compiled by Ibotta shows beer sales are down 2%.  Sales of spirits and liquors are up 33% - fueled by a 75% increase in sales of liqueur, a 43% jump in brandy sales and a 40% in sales of tequila.  The wine sale boost coming in large part from a 73% increase in flavored wine sales.
