Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Big Lots is closing all of its stores in the US, impacting workers here in Western New York. The retailer had already said it would close their locations at 2276 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo and 698 S. Ogden Street in Sloan. Stores in Clarence, Depew, Dunkirk, Hamburg, Jamestown, Olean, Tonawanda, West Seneca and Niagara Falls will also be forced to close. Big Lots says it's still trying to find an investor.
The Buffalo AKG Art Museum and AKG workers have agreed to a collective bargaining agreement, the first of its kind at the museum. Workers had initially organized a union in January of this year. The contract is for two and a half years and includes protections for fair discipline, health and safety protocols, guaranteed raises and other benefits for employees.
East Aurora's Rural Outreach Center will distribute gifts to 30 families and individuals in need Saturday. Every year, eligible families submit a wish list to the Rural Outreach Center. Community members and businesses each sign up to shop for one family, buying everything from Lego's to toiletries and socks.
