Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Vatican has answered the prayers of many in Western New York, as ten churches that had been ordered to close by the Buffalo Diocese will remain open while the Vatican conducts reviews.
Save Our Buffalo Churches, an activist group campaigning to keep local churches open, posted on Facebook that the following churches will remain open for the time being:
-Holy Spirit in Buffalo
-Ascension in Batavia
-Blessed Sacrament Church in Tonawanda
-St. John XXIII in West Seneca
-St. Bernadette in Orchard Park
-St. Aloysius Gonzaga in Cheektowaga
-Infant of Prague in Cheektowaga
-Our Lady of Rosary in Wilson
-St. Rose of Lima in Forestville
-St. Brigid in Bergen
The Buffalo Diocese approved a list of 78 properties last September that would eventually close as part of the Diocese "Road to Renewal" plan.
