Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - One more day until Election Day 2025.
Early voting has ended, and just over 37,000 ballots were cast over the nine-day period in Erie County.
Only 8,200 votes came from the City of Buffalo, where residents will be choosing a new mayor for the first time in 20 years.
Political insider Ken Kruly says for a variety of reasons, he expects Democrat Sean Ryan to be victorious.
"He's coming off a strong Primary win. He's continued to campaign, and he's well positioned with his name recognition," said Kruly on Monday with WBEN. "Republican James Gardner is also campaigning and doing a lot of mailings, but his problem is he's facing a heavy enrollment disadvantage."
In Hamburg, it's a three-way race for Town Supervisor between Republican Beth Farrell Lorentz, Democrat Bob Reynolds and Independent & Republican Josh Collins, who's running as a write-in candidate.
Kruly was asked how Collins will impact that race.
"I understand that Josh Collins has spent some money and has a lot of signs. He lost the Republican Primary by 22 votes, so he has support out there," Kruly noted. "If he does well, it's most likely that he'll take Republican votes away from Farrell-Lorenz, which would work to the advantage of Democrat Bob Reynolds."
Hamburg had a fairly substantial turnout in early voting of 7% or 8%, the highest in the county.
Amherst is another hotbed of voting.
Kruly says he has not seen any polling in Amherst, but Democratic enrollment is very strong.
"It's an off year," he added. "People are not going to be voting like they would in a presidential election year. I think that would benefit Democrat Shawn Lavin over Republican Dan Gagliardo. That race is probably going to be relatively tight."
Polls will be open on Tuesday from 6 a.m.-to-9 p.m. in Erie County.
