Buffalo, NY (WBEN) After being canceled the last 2 years because of the COVID pandemic, the Allentown Art Festival is back and organizers say they can't be any more excited.

If you ask show president Rita Lipman how close the festival is to returning to normal on a scale of 1 to 10, she says it's almost at a 10. "We're just so happy and just delighted that it's here," says Lippman. She says preparations have begun since September and now she's happy to bring the festival back to the artists and the community.

Lippman says there's always something new this year. An example is a surge in younger artists. "They don't give an age, but I would say they're in their 20s," says Lippman. He says their work is emotional. "(Their paintings) I think maybe were inspired by being inside for two years possibly. They're really quite different than some of the things that we've had in the past," explains Lippman. She adds returning artists are also looking forward to coming back to Allentown.

Lippman says the festival will be a bit smaller this year as it won't have Allen street between Delaware and Elmwood.

The festival runs Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 6pm.
