Amherst, N.Y. (WBEN) - Several cell phone carriers are experiencing outages Thursday morning, according to the website Downdetector.

AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile customers are among those experiencing outages.

As of 11 a.m. EST on Thursday morning, AT&T had over 59,000 reported outages.

Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago and Atlanta are among the cities where residents are reporting outages. Customers that are affected may have their phones stuck in SOS mode.

The outages appear to be unpredictable. A WBEN listener told us that both she and her daughter have an AT&T family plan. The listener had service, but her daughter did not.

No cause for the outages is known at this time.

AT&T has released a statement saying they are "working urgently" to restore service for affected customers.
