Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - After writing his first fictional novel - and witnessed that book turned into a movie - Bob Rich isn't turning back.

Rich, chairman of Rich Products Corp., is experiencing a new moment as his decade-old novel, "Looking Through Water" has been made into a movie, starring Michael Douglas.

"Looking Through Water" makes its local debut on Sept. 26 with two showings at the North Park Theater.

After writing four non-fiction books, "Looking Through Water" was totally new experience for Rich.

"I just started with a blank piece of paper and went from there," Rich said.

The novel centers on a bonding experience between a grandfather and his grandson on a fishing trip. There are a few twists in the plot.

"It came completely from me and not from any one experience," Rich said.

"Looking Through Water" will not be the last fictional novel Rich will be writing. In fact, his focus now has shifted to fiction.

"There's no one to second guess me," he joked.

Rich expects to be at the North Park Theater for the Sept. 26 showings to answer questions about the book and movie.
