Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Catholic Diocese of Buffalo has recommended the closure or merger of seven more parishes in Niagara and Orleans counties.
The full list of parishes includes:
- All Saints in Lockport
- St. Stephen in Middleport
- St. Mark in Kendall
- St. Raphael parish in Niagara Falls
- St. John de LaSalle in Niagara Falls
- Divine Mercy in Niagara Falls
- Our Lady of Rosary in Wilson
The recommendations bring the total number of closures to more than 30.
Parishes have until July 15 to accept the recommendation or make a counter proposal.
Three more meetings will take place this week, with the next taking place Tuesday night in the Southern Tier. Genesee and Wyoming Counties will follow on Wednesday and Southern Erie County on Thursday.
