BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) – Buffalo has made progress with paving on some of its most commonly traveled streets.
The city's public works commissioner, Mike Finn, highlighted several of the improvements. The most notable of the improvements is the stretch of Niagara Street between Forest to Hampshire, which has recently completed its final paving. This project was part of the city's "phase 3" of the street revitalization.
"Phase 4A…goes from Forest all the way to Hertel Avenue," Finn said Monday. "We're continuing this treatment with the goal to get all the way up to Ontario Street. The next phase will be finished up to Hertel next construction season."
Other notable projects include the recent finishing of Main Street between Delavan and Ferry plus Walden Avenue between Genesee and Sycamore. The city has spent $14.9 million for these projects along.
Buffalo is continuing to work on other projects, including the Cars Sharing Main Street Project, Abbott Road Streetscape, Ohio Street and Michigan Avenue Lift Bridge rehabilitation, Clinton Street rehabilitation, Virginia-Burton Complete Streets, and the city's entertainment district at Chippewa, Franklin, and Court Streets.
All told, Buffalo is spending $58 million in infrastructure improvements this year.
