Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A 30-year-old Buffalo man was arraigned Monday morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Andrew LoTempio on one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class "A-I" felony) and one count of Assault in the Second Degree (Class "D" felony) for his role in the killing of a man and the beating of his ex-girlfriend.
It was this past Saturday night at approximately 11:30 p.m. ET when Abouycea Thornton was accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend while armed with a metal pipe on the 400 block of Berkshire Avenue near Bailey Avenue.
Both victims were taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center, where the 29-year-old male from Buffalo died from his injuries at the hospital. Meanwhile, the female victim was treated for injuries to her arm and later released.
Thornton is being held without bail, and could face a maximum sentence of 25 years-to-life in prison if convicted of the highest charge.
