BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) – Organizers of the Buffalo Marathon said this year's race will be back to normal with a single start and spectators.
The race is scheduled for June 26. Race officials said there are 3,000 athletes running this year, down from their normal years where more than 8,000 people run.
"We promise to make it a celebration for every runner that crosses the finish line as we kick off summer and the return to normal on the streets of Buffalo," Buffalo Marathon officials said in a statement.
Prior to Wednesday's announcement, the runners would have been staggered into groups with different starting locations and spectators were limited.
In the last 135 days, the marathon has raised $191,977 for Kaleida Health.
