Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and Police Commissioner Joe Gramaglia announced the deadline to apply for police exams has been extended from the original May 22 cutoff date, to May 31.
"The recruitment process is going well," said Mayor Brown. "We have over 1000 people that have signed up to take the Buffalo Police exam. Our recruitment is actually trending ahead of national trends. Recruitments in many places across the country for the police exam is down. We in the last 10 days or so, saw a real jump in people signing up to take the exam and because we're seeing increased interest in taking the exam, we are going to be extending the exam deadline."
"We believe we have the greatest police department, we have a lot of opportunities to offer," said Commissioner Gramaglia. "We are looking for those that next generation to come and join our police department.
Gramaglia says it's never been easier to sign up for the exam. They have QR codes that you can scan on all social media platform for the City of Buffalo and the Buffalo Police Department that will take you right to the application, you can also click the link here to apply.
You must be 19 years of age by the date of the exam, which takes place June 17, 2023. Candidates who reach their 35th birthday on or before exam date are not eligible. A $25 fee is required to take the exam, a waiver of the fee can be offered upon request.
