Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Buffalo Police Department has released bodycam footage of an officer-involved shooting that happened on Donovan Drive in September of 2025.
Police responded to the call at around 2 a.m. on Sept. 27 and found a woman acting aggressively while carrying a knife.
The video begins from the perspective of a Buffalo police officer arriving at the scene before asking the woman to drop the knife and asking another officer if he has a taser.
The officer can be heard telling the woman, 38-year-old Cynthia Gilbert, "It's not that serious," while trying to defuse the situation.
After a shouting match with police, Gilbert turns back toward an apartment door where multiple people are standing and swings the knife at one of the individuals. An officer then opens fire on Gilbert, who takes a few steps forward before collapsing to the ground.
Gilbert was treated at Erie County Medical Center and has since been charged with one count of second-degree attempted murder and one count of first-degree attempted assault.
