Buffalo's Public Works crews clean up parks following Fourth of July damage

Fireworks damaged parts of two ball diamonds Thursday night

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo Public Works officials say two baseball diamonds, one at Cazenovia Park and one at Riverside Park, were damaged by people lighting off fireworks that burned parts of the infield at the two fields.

Olmsted crews are working Friday morning to repair the two baseball diamonds. Garbage totes were also burned at Shoshone Park, and officials believe fireworks were the cause.

City crews also report a large amount of debris was left behind by parkgoers on Thursday in-and-around the Centennial splash pad at Ralph C. Wilson Park.
The splash pad re-opened shortly after its scheduled start time of 11 a.m. ET.

Public Works officials say the damage to the parks is still still being evaluated at this time.
