Buffalo, NY (WBEN) As COVID PCR lab test requirements have been eliminated for Canadians returning from an out of country trip for less than 72 hours, they'll need to have updated information ready at the border crossing or face quarantine.
Attorney Rosanna Berardi says Canadians will need to update the ArriveCan app and fill out all the information before getting to the border.
"They need to go to their app store and upload the latest version of ArriveCAN, and it must be filled out and ready to go before you get to the border," says Berardi. "If you're shopping and you decide to come back, and you don't have your ArriveCAN app all filled out and ready to show the officers, you can be quarantined by the Canadian government."
Berardi says Canadian Border Services Agency officials want it ready upon arrival to keep traffic moving.
Attorney Jamie Fiegel says if your phone doesn't have app capabilities, don't worry. "You can fill it out online and print it from there, that is acceptable," explains Fiegel.
For US citizens, the ArriveCAN app is required. "They won't be subject to quarantine because they don't have the right to entry, but they will be turned away if they don't have that proof of vaccination, that QR code and any other documentation they need when they get to the border," says Fiegel.
Canada eliminated the PCR requirement for citizens returning from a 72 hour or less trip out of that country Tuesday.
