Prosecutors say Canisius College Public Safety officers were conducting a routine check of parking tags on vehicles near the Koessler Athletic Center Sunday night where they observed a magazine from a handgun on the front passenger seat of McGee's vehicle.

When confronted by public safety officers, police say McGee, a student at the college, had two loaded, illegal handguns and high-capacity magazines inside of a fanny pack on his person. During a search of McGee’s vehicle, officers say they found a shotgun and additional high-capacity magazines.

McGee is scheduled to return on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. He was remanded without bail. If convicted of the highest charge, McGee faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
