Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - "Truth be told, we had a press event planned for today. We were going to address the ongoing migrant crisis related to schools in Western New York. Erie County residents are concerned, angry and still need answers, but instead we're addressing yet another distraction due to the unacceptable behavior of Mark Poloncarz."
Erie County Executive candidate Chrissy Casilio is once again calling out the executive incumbent for a pattern of "unhinged and unacceptable behavior."
LISTEN LIVE TO WBEN:
This conference comes in light of a Buffalo Police Department domestic report filed against Poloncarz by a woman on Monday who was in a relationship with the executive. The report alleged Poloncarz "restrained" the woman during a physical altercation. Poloncarz denied that claim in a Thursday interview with WBEN's Tom Puckett.
"The alleged domestic abuse involving County Executive Poloncarz is very troubling. These are serious allegations, and I'm calling for an immediate investigation by an independent prosecutor outside of Erie County," said Casilio.
Republican Erie County Legislator Chris Greene called upon Poloncarz to resign.
"Mark Poloncarz has demonstrated a very disturbing pattern of aggression towards anybody who disagrees with him in politics, particularly women. When a process server came to his house to serve him, just simply doing her job, he threatened to shoot her. Saturday, we find out the allegations of domestic violence when a woman tries to break up with him. The allegations are that he manhandled her, these are not the actions that are becoming of a county executive. I'm calling on Mark Poloncarz to resign as a county executive, so the Democratic Party can at least find a candidate who's more representative of the Erie County residents and the expectations that they have in their elected officials."
