Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Another year presents yet another challenge for the annual Catholic Charities of Buffalo appeal as organizers announce they're looking to reach a goal of $9.5 million raised by June 30.
"We enter appeal 2022 encouraged, optimistic and ready to get to work," said Deacon Steve Schumer, President of Catholic Charities of Buffalo.
"The goal strikes a balance," says co-chair Thomas Beecher. "It is more than the appeal raised last year but lower than least year's goal."
Catholic Charities recognizes the ongoing COVID pandemic continues to present a challenge in reaching the fundraising goal and the campaign is off to an early start with $1.1 million raised so far, representing about 12 percent of the overall goal.
"There continues to be great needs in our community," said Bishop Michael Fisher of the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo. "People we know, and so many others in our community, rely on and turn to Catholic Charities each and every day."
The annual Catholic Charities appeal helps fun 57 programs and services administered across 80 locations in all eight counties in Western New York.
Donations to the annual appeal can be made at ccwny.org/donation or by calling 716 218 1400. Donors may also text GIVE HOPE to 44321 to make a donation.
