Cheektowaga, N.Y. (WBEN) - Cheektowaga Police continues its investigation into a fatal shooting late Saturday afternoon that took place on Cedar Road.
It was just before 5 p.m. ET on Saturday when Cheektowaga Police public safety dispatchers received 9-1-1 calls about a 20-year-old male that was shot. Officers responded and found MDrawnaq Ratin of Cheektowaga suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Officers immediately attempted life-saving measures at the scene until Ratin was transported by AMR to Erie County Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
One of the 9-1-1 callers identified himself as the person who fired the gun, and waited for police to arrive at the scene.
Police have recovered a firearm that is believed to have been used, and immediately began a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
