Cheektowaga, N.Y. (WBEN) - A domestic incident in Cheektowaga on Friday ended with an unfortunate outcome, as a man took his own life inside a residence on Dean Road.
According to Cheektowaga Police, the man had entered a house that belonged to a woman, of which he had a previous relationship with. The ex-boyfriend ordered the woman out of the house, and then proceeded to shoot the microwave and a door before eventually killing himself.
The woman is safe, and was kept at Cheektowaga Police headquarters during the incident.
Cheektowaga Police first responded to the scene at around 9 a.m. EST, which later prompted a response from the department's SWAT team, as well as the Erie County Sheriff's Office.
At one point, police even asked nearby residents to shelter in place in their basements due to the ongoing situation. The shelter in place order was soon lifted after the incident was resolved.
