City of Buffalo re-opens Michigan Avenue lift bridge

Chief engineer Nolan Skipper says the project wrapped up three weeks ahead of schedule

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - It has been a good week for Buffalo's Department of Public Works, as they have wrapped up another project in the city ahead of schedule.

Chief engineer Nolan Skipper announced on Thursday the Michigan Avenue lift bridge has re-opened following construction work and repairs to the bridge. This re-opening comes about three weeks ahead of the city's original target date for the project.

The bridge closed in late May in order to begin the project to make the necessary repairs.

The city also announced on Monday the re-opening of Allen Street at the intersection of Elmwood Avenue after months of closure as part of the reconstruction project along the Allen Street corridor.
