Buffalo, NY (WBEN) With blood supplies low, ConnectLife is getting some help from the Bills in encouraging you to give blood this week. If you donate blood, you could win tickets to the Bills' playoff game against New England.
Blood supply in WNY remains at a critical level, says Amanda Farrell of ConnectLife. "The COVID pandemic has impacted just about everything in the world, and especially with the recent spike in Western New York, it's really impacted the number of people showing up to donate blood," says Farrell. To help, Farrell says ConnectLife will be giving away five pairs of tickets to the playoff game this Saturday, January 15th vs. the New England Patriots. All blood and platelet donors with an appointment today through Friday will be entered to win. One winner will be chosen each day.
Farrell says she's thrilled the Bills are giving tickets to raffle off. "Our Bills are a winning team, so we want people to join our winning team and donate blood," says Farrell.
Farrell says all blood types are needed, "most specifically donors who are O type. That's because if a patient is entering a hospital and needs blood immediately, anyone can receive that O type blood before their own type is needed," explains Farrell. She says there's only a 1 day supply of O type blood right now.
