Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A Wisconsin-based company made special snowblowers to help clear out Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers. Could something similar be made for the future new home of the Buffalo Bills?
Dan Ariens is a member of the Packers' executive board, and the idea came up during a meeting in the late 2000s.
"I offered to make a special model that would fit between the rows of seats, and we built them in our R&D shop. And together with the Packers' maintenance crew, we sized it right," said Ariens in an interview with WBEN.
The snowblower is its professional model with a narrower set of wheels and a tall shoot. Ariens made 20 of those at a cost of $2,000 each.
Despite having these snowblowers to help clear seats at Lambeau Field, Ariens says shovelers are still needed for snowy days.
"They work really well when you're up to about Row 30. When you get up above that, it can't throw it far enough, and you're just putting it down in the lower seats. You don't want to do that, because then you got to do it twice," explained Ariens.
Ariens adds people shovel from rows 50 down to 30, and then put the snow down a chute and it slides down.
So could a similar model be made specifically for Buffalo? Ariens says the Bills haven't contacted him, and vice versa.
"I'd love to try and build some for Buffalo. We personally look at Buffalo as a very good snowblower market for our product. We kind of look at Buffalo as like sort of the Green Bay of the AFC with all the snow that we both get," Ariens said.
Ariens added he may take it upon himself to contact the Bills.
