Couple admits to baby's death

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) A Buffalo couple pleads guilty in the death of their baby.26 year old Luis Gonzales Jr and 23 year old Kitrina Udrea entered guilty pleas to second degree manslaughter.

In July 2023, police responded to an apartment on William Street in Cheektowaga for an unresponsive child.2 and a half month old Londyn Gonzalez was rushed to Oishei Children's Hospital where she later died. Prosecutors say an investigation found the couple recklessly caused their daughter's death by not following doctor's instructions to increase the amount of formula and the frequency of feedings.

While born at a healthy 6 pounds, 8 ounces, Londyn weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces at the time of her death. The Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the manner of death as homicide by neglect caused due to malnutrition and dehydration.

Gonzalez and Udrea are scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday, July 29th. While the charge carries a maximum punishment of 15 years in prison, Judge James Bargnesi committed to a maximum determinate sentence of 1 to 3 years of incarceration as a condition of the plea. Both were released under supervision while pending sentence.
