Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The "CrowdStrike" outage that widely impacted travel, healthcare and business operations Friday is continuing to have a negative impact on operations at the DMV offices in Erie County.

New York State Department of Motor Vehicles servers and computers have been affected by a problem with an update to the Microsoft-CrowdStrike cybersecurity platform that occurred overnight on Friday.

The Erie County Clerk’s Office is coordinating with New York State DMV’s IT department to get our six Auto Bureau branches back online to allow for customer transactions and return to normal operations as soon as possible.

As a result of the continued impact, DMV branches in the Eastern Hills Mall and the Southgate Plaza will be closed Saturday, July 20th. Customers that have a scheduled appointment for July 20 will receive next-step instructions in their email. Walk-in customers are asked to say tuned to our social media or local news outlets for operational updates.

In a statement, DMV officials say, "We apologize for any inconvenience as we work with the New York State DMV to restore services”
