Diocese of Buffalo places priest on administrative leave

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Diocese of Buffalo has placed a retired priest on administrative leave after the diocese had a received complaint of child sexual abuse.

Bishop Michael Fisher announced on Thursday that Rev. Joseph Vatter has been placed on administrative leave as an investigation continues into the complaint.


Prior to being placed on leave, Rev. Vatter was occasionally celebrating Masses at various diocesan churches.

This administrative leave is for the purpose of investigation, and does not imply any determination as to the truth or falsity of the complaint.
