Orchard Park, N.Y. (WBEN) - Despite weather forecasts calling for a significant amount of snow to fall in Orchard Park come Saturday evening, many Buffalo Bills fans will still be flocking to Highmark Stadium to see their favorite team look to punch its ticket to the playoffs for a fourth-straight year.
Erie County Sheriff John Garcia is announcing a regular game day of traffic patterns for Saturday night's game, but is also recommending for drivers to be prepared for some alterations given the forecasted conditions:
Abbott Road:
The section of Abbott Road in front of the stadium closes to North and Southbound traffic at 3:15 p.m. EST, and will remain closed until after the game. Lots 2, 3, the Camper and the Bus and Limo lots are accessible from Rte. 20a. Lots 4 and 6 are accessible from Rte. 20.
Route 20a (Big Tree Road):
Shortly before the conclusion of the game, Rte. 20a from Fieldhouse Drive will be two-lane, one-way traffic headed Eastbound. Vehicles West of Fieldhouse Drive can only travel Westbound.
Stadium Lots:
All stadium lots open at 4:15 p.m. EST.
Roadways:
Due to the weather and snow plow activity around the stadium:
- Cars will not be allowed to stop or stage along the shoulder, curb, driving lane, or anywhere on the roadway. All drivers will be instructed to move their vehicles out of the abovementioned areas.
Sheriff Garcia suggests all guests review Highmark Stadium maps to locate the best lot in which to park and the gate in which to enter.
SPECIAL ALERT:
Sheriff Garcia urges drivers and fans to be prepared for winter weather conditions:
- Give yourself extra time to get to and from the game.
- Make sure you have a full tank of fuel.
- Slow down.
- Increase following distance.
- Remove all snow and ice from the vehicle.
- Wear weather-appropriate apparel for the game.
- Bring extra clothing to change into if the outer layer gets wet.
- Use common sense and be prepared for the conditions.
Kickoff in Orchard Park is set for 8:15 p.m. EST.
