BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Western New York hospitalization numbers continued to decline on Wednesday.

"People got the word out, they took it seriously," Governor Cuomo said Thursday. " We're now seeing a flattening of that increase and that's good news."


There were 501 hospitalizations in Western New York on Wednesday, a decrease from 527 the day prior.

Statewide there were 10,914 new cases of coronavirus reported. Hospitalizations increased by 50 from Tuesday to a total of 6,147. 120 people died on Wednesday, bringing the total number of deaths to 28,222 since March.

Governor Cuomo reiterated his concerns of the Finger Lakes Region due to its rising hospitalization numbers. The Finger Lakes region had 736 hospitalizations on Wednesday.
