
Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A 21-year-old man from Georgia was arraigned Wednesday morning in Buffalo City Court after he was arrested for possessing an illegal hand gun in his vehicle during an inspection at the Peace Bridge.
It is alleged that on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at approximately 9:14 a.m. ET, Eloy Guadarrama Silva of Rex, Georgia was driving and made a wrong turn onto the Peace Bridge. Upon inspection of his vehicle by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers, they allegedly found a loaded, illegal handgun inside of a backpack.
Guadarrama Silver is facing one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” violent felony). He is scheduled to return on Monday, Oct. 23 at 9:30 a.m. ET for a felony hearing.
While prosecutors requested the defendant to be remanded, he was released on bail set at $1,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
If convicted of the charge, Guadarrama Silva faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
