Greenlight partnering with T Mobile in joint venture

Greenlight Networks is undergoing a major transition through a new 50/50 joint venture with T-Mobile.

Announced last week, the partnership aims to combine Greenlight with another fiber provider, GoNetspeed, to significantly expand fiber access across the Northeast.

"It means the same great service for those who have chosen Greenlight," said Greenlight CEO Mark Murphy on WBEN Monday. "And for future customers it means we've got a great partner in T Mobile, who is going to help us expand across Western New York and beyond."

Murphy said the T Mobile brand is good for their customers as well as their employees. He suspects that Greenlight will be in 80 to 100 thousand homes in Western New York as they continue to grow. That includes the current expansion in Niagara Falls and North Buffalo.

"Right now we've got about half of that completed with another 15 to 20 thousand planned for 2026," added Murphy.

T-Mobile says it will invest $2 billion through the joint venture.

The deal, subject to regulatory approval, is expected to close in the first half of 2027.
