Higgins on reopening: "I think we need action"

New York, Hawaii the only states in the country that do not have a plan for lifting all restrictions

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - "I don't think we need a plan, I think we need action."

Congressman Brian Higgins, in an appearance on WBEN Friday morning, said now is the time for New York to join other states across the nation and communicate a plan for when Covid restrictions would end. New York and Hawaii are the only two states in the country that do not have a plan for lifting all restrictions. Every other state has set either a date or metric for lifting all restrictions.

"I think it's time for action," Higgins said. "We were all told by public health officials 'Vaccines, vaccines, vaccines.' Well, now we have them... Let's get back to a sense of normalcy."

On Thursday, the Department of Health in Pennsylvania announced that it will no longer require unvaccinated people to wear masks in public on June 28 or once 70% of adults are fully vaccinated, whichever comes first. Their Announcement came days after New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced an end to all indoor gathering limits on June 4, effectively ending all Covid restrictions in that state.
