BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Black Friday of Summer is in full swing. Prime Days (a two day event) landed Monday, with not just Amazon, but Target, Walmart and others offering deals on thousands of products.
"Amazon has promised over 2 million deals this year," said Anna Kocharian,
Deals Editor at Consumer Reports. "The deals cover almost every category."
With prices up on so many things from gas to groceries, is it possible that
there won't be as many good deals? "It's always possible, said Kocharian. "There are some great deals on electronics, such as TV's and headphones. There's so many competing sales as well. You can check on Best Buy, Target, Walmart. They all have their own major sales event, so you can gauge and see which site is offering the best price on the item you want."
More retailers than ever are getting in on the action from home decor outfit Wayfair to Home Depot and Old Navy.
Some of the early deals include tech items. At Amazon, the Amazon Fire TV stick 4K, regularly $49.99 is 50% off, at $24.99. Meanwhile at Target, look for discounts on gaming, smart home and tech. The Shark Navigator Deluxe upright vacuum was $199.99 and is now 15% off at $169.99. Walmart has Apple Air Pods at 25% off, at $119 and the Roborock S6 robot vacuum was $649.99 now $379.99 at 42% off.
"Don't feel like you have to look up every single product," said Kocharian. "Look for what you want and then check Consumer Reports. We have a Prime Day Hub where we are comparing prices and finding the best deals.
Smart shopping expert Trae Bodge with Truetrade.com offers this strategy for power purchasing. "Look for regular things that you order each month. Or something that you've had your eye on that's a little bit above your budget. It may be a good time to look at those things. Also, create a list of basics, and maybe some gifts, and tackle sales that way."
You have to be an Amazon Prime member to participate in the Amazon sales event. If you're not a Prime member, you can sign up for Amazon's free 30-day Prime trial offer to shop the sale. Cancel before the trial period ends and you won't be charged.
There's a rumor that Amazon may be planning a second Prime Day for the Fall; the company, however, is not saying anything beyond the June event.
