(WBEN) - "We do need to have more long-term objectives in concrete."

Congressman Nick Langworthy joined WBEN Thursday morning to talk about the war in Iran and whether Congress will go on recess amidst the partial government shutdown.

On the war, Langworthy said Congress needs a more clear objective from the Trump Administration.

"The President has to continue to lay out what our final objective is," Langworthy said. "I do know that some talks are underway, that is a positive thing. This has to wind down. This is not a declared war. This is not something that has an open ended end date. At some point if we're to remain committed or there's any talk of concrete boots on the ground there would have to be a declaration from Congress."

Langworthy said he agrees ending Iran's Military capabilities was a good thing for the country and our allies, but is ready to hear how the war will wind down.

The financial impact across the country is a big part of that.

"I am deeply concerned about the cost to Americans," Langworthy told WBEN. "Fuel costs, those hit everybody hard. We're staring down the barrel of Four Bucks a gallon."
