Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A jury has found a man, formerly of the Town of Tonawanda, guilty of two counts of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child (Class “A-II” felonies), one count of Criminal Sexual Act in the Second Degree and one count of Rape in the Second Degree (Class “D” felonies).
Jurors rendered their decision Thursday afternoon after nearly two days of deliberation following a five-day trial, convicting the defendant of all counts in the indictment.
It's alleged that on multiple occasions around January 2012 and August 2019, 42-year-old Robert Roy engaged in sexual intercourse and sexual conduct with a child who was less than 13-years-old. Detectives say the crimes occurred in the Village of Williamsville and the Town of Tonawanda and that Roy knew the victim.
Roy faces a maximum sentence of 64 years-to-life in prison if sentenced consecutively before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah Haendiges on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 2 p.m.
Roy remains in custody and is being held without bail. The victim has a temporary order of protection, which still remains in effect.
