Kenmore, NY (WBEN) Kenmore East High School will go to remote learning for two weeks after identifying cases of COVID19.

"Confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been identified at Kenmore East High School, resulting in additional individuals being quarantined through the Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH) contact tracing process. Out of an abundance of caution, and in collaboration with ECDOH, I have made the decision for all Kenmore East students currently attending in-person instruction to transition to fully remote learning effective immediately. This affects those Kenmore East students currently participating in the self-contained special education programs," says Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Schools Superintendent Sabatino Cimato in a statement.

Wednesday is already a remote learning day under the hybrid plan, and Thursday will be the first day students will be in full remote learning mode. The district anticipates returning to hybrid learning on November 16.

"The District has had ongoing communication with ECDOH. ECDOH will continue to conduct contact tracing and will reach out to anyone who may have had close contact with any individual who has tested positive. All individuals contacted are expected to comply with all instructions given by ECDOH, including any requirement to quarantine for a designated period of time," adds Cimato.
