Lack of clouds, wind stand out during exceptional weather run

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Western New York continues to enjoy exceptional weather into the first week of October with above average temperatures and very dry conditions.

There are two things that stand out to meteorologist Andy Parker.

"The lack of any wind and lack of any clouds. The fact that it's been this sunny and this calm. Those are the two things that are most unusual," Parker said on Friday with WBEN.

Parker says Western New York has had nice Septembers before, when it comes to temperature, but when it comes to sunshine with winds less than 10 mph, that is the exceptional part.

"It's kind of ironic that the Buffalo Bills are going with a 'white-out' theme Sunday night, when in reality you could be watching the game from the pool, if you still have it open," Parker added.

We hate to be party poopers, but the end is in sight for this stretch of weather.

"Tuesday morning, it will be raining," Parker said.

He expects a solid rain to come, and not just a sprinkle here or there.

"After that, the numbers drop," he added. "We're going to go through the 80's and fall through the 70s, and then 60s and 50s on Wednesday and Thursday."

Parker thinks we will spend more time in the 50s and 60s in the middle of October.
