Clarence, N.Y. (WBEN) - Ahead of Sunday's big AFC Divisional Round game in Orchard Park against the Baltimore Ravens, one Western New York pizzeria is guaranteeing a Bills victory, or you can get your money back.
Right now through Thursday, Pesci's Pizza, located at 8065 Main Street in Clarence, is running a special for customers, "Bills Win or Money Back" guarantee, to not only have some fun with the staff and clientele, but to also get in the spirit ahead of Sunday's big game at Highmark Stadium.
"So Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, you order, pick up and have delivered our large and 20 wings special, our large and pound of boneless wings special, and hopefully we can win on Sunday! But if they don't come through and they lose, then Monday morning, we've gotta get up here and send out some eGift cards to cover the cost on all those orders," said Chris Phillips, co-owner of Pesci's Pizza on Wednesday.
This isn't the first time Phillips and his co-owner Jim Dickey have put together a similar offer for customers over the years, and it's a guarantee that has a pretty good track record.
"I think it actually started back in the day with the [Buffalo] Sabres, a couple big Sabres games here-and-there. If memory serves me right, I want to say we're 6-1 on this guarantee," Phillips said with WBEN. "The last time we just did it was for the [Kansas City] Chiefs game a few weeks ago. We had $7,000-$8,000 in sales riding on that one, and had to sweat that one out. But the guys came through, and it worked out for us."
This offer caught on pretty quick with customers at Pesci's over the years.
"It caught quick, and it caught fast. [Dickey] was actually out of town with hockey up in Toronto, and I was actually in California with my daughter, and by 6 o'clock, we had to close the store because we were out of dough and we were completely sold out," Phillips noted when they first started. "So we're obviously prepared for these situations now. We try to pick our spots when we're going to do them."
Phillips says the only blemish on their "Bills Win or Money Back" guarantee track record was back in the 2021 Bills season when Buffalo lost in the AFC Divisional Round to the Chiefs, also known as the "13 seconds" game.
As for this week's Bills-Ravens game in Orchard Park, Phillips is confident that Baltimore is set to face a completely different Buffalo team than what took the field back in Week 4.
"We had a bunch of guys out in Week 4, [Khalil] Shakir went out early, we had five or six starters out. I think they're a different team all around between the coaching and the players," Phillips noted. "I said 35-to-10 on the game the other day, I was pretty close. I've got this one, not sure how they're going to do it or when it's going to happen, but I've got them winning by a touchdown."
