North Collins, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Erie County Sheriff's Office announced on Thursday the arrest of Ashley Bertino, 35, of Silver Creek following a long-term investigation into illegal narcotics sales at a grocery store on Main Street in North Collins.

Bertino, who is a manager at the store, sold drugs to undercover officers from the Erie County Sheriff's Office Narcotics and Intelligence Unit while on the job.

Deputies from the unit executed a search warrant Wednesday afternoon at the store and arrested Bertino. They found a dollar bill containing suspected drug residue inside of Bertino's handbag.

A glass smoking device, five small bags of suspected meth and one small bag of suspected hydrocodone pills were also recovered.

Bertino has been charged with the Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third and Fifth Degree, along with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.
