Amherst, N.Y. (WBEN) - Monday was a double down day when it came to the sale of homes going for north of the $1 million benchmark, with one of the houses serving as a backdrop when "Marshall" was filmed here a decade ago. Another was previously owned by a former Buffalo Bills player, joining Erie County's "$1 million club."
First came a house at 33 Ruskin Road in the Amherst hamlet of Snyder that sold for $1.165 million.
The house sold for approximately $200,000 above the original list price.
Built in 1929, the four-bedroom house has 3,000-square-feet and went on the market with a $999,000 asking price.
Houses on both LeBrun Road and Ruskin Road served as backdrops when "Marshall" was largely filmed in the Buffalo area in 2016.
The sale marked the third house in Amherst this year to sell for more than $1 million.
Also, former Bills punter Sam Martin sold his Orchard Park house for $400,000 more than what he paid for it three years ago.
Martin sold his house at 11 Chase Road in Orchard Park for $1.2 million.
Martin paid $800,000 for the house when it he bought it 2023.
Built in 1967, the three-bedroom ranch-style house sits on 1.6 acres of land.
Martin was released by the Bills in 2025 and now punts for the Carolina Panthers.
For Orchard Park, the deal is the 16th house this year to sell for more $1 million.
Thus far, Erie County has recorded 41 homes this year selling for north of $1 million, and is pacing for a $1 million-plus house being sold once every four days.
Erie County is trending towards 85 homes being sold this year for more than $1 million.
Last year, Erie County set a record with 105 homes that sold for more than $1 million.
The sale of $1 million-plus homes is considered a key economic benchmark within the region's residential real estate industry.
