Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) – Months after Martin Gugino became known worldwide as the demonstrator who was seriously injured in Buffalo, the activist is speaking out about the incident and the overall issue of police violence.

"I'm good. The city's not good," said Gugino when asked how he is doing after the head injury he suffered in late May in front of Buffalo City Hall after being pushed by Buffalo Police officers during a demonstration.

When pressed about his physical condition following the incident, Gugino would only say, "I got a cane, no problem, I'm good."

Gugino's fall to the concrete sidewalk that led to his injury was caught on videos that went viral and put Buffalo at the forefront of the police violence issue that was evolving following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Two Buffalo Police officers are charged with felony counts following the incident.  When asked about the officers, Gugino stated that while what they did was wrong, it's the overall system that is broken.

"The whole system is wrong. They're all taught to do the wrong thing," Gugino stated. "If you can't get the policemen to follow the law, that's not good," he said. "These were not two especially bad officers," added Gugino.

Gugino was participating in a press conference Wednesday calling attention to another alleged incident of police violence that occurred months prior to his injury and calling on the Erie County District Attorney to fire police officers involved.
