BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - About 24 hours after she was reported missing, a 13 year year old Grand Island teen was found safe in York, Pennsylvania Friday morning and law enforcers in Western New York have made an arrest.
The Erie County District Attorney's Office says Dale Kumler, 24, who is accused of abducting the teen, is charged with multiple counts, including sexual assault and unlawful contact with a minor.
Police believe Hailey Williams left her home Thursday morning following online conversations with a man calling himself "Dale."
The Erie County Sheriff's Office said Williams was found in York County near
Harrisburg, around 4:30 a.m. Friday and has been reunited with her family.
Grand Island School Superintendent Brian Graham sent a letter to the district, sharing the news, thanking multiple law enforcement agencies and everyone who contributed information that led to the safe recovery of Hailey.
Graham is also asking parents to contemplate how much access should be given to young children, as it related to social media and internet chat forums.
Erie County District Attorney John Flynn is thanking the Erie County Sheriff's office, Buffalo FBI, New York State Police, Pennsylvania State Police and Thruway State Police for their assistance in the investigation.
Hailey Williams has been a student at Grand Island Middle School.
