BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Erie County will set a new single-day high for coronavirus cases.

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said Saturday that there are 385 new cases of coronavirus.

Earlier Saturday Poloncarz tweeted, "When the final new COVID-19 case report for (Friday) is finalized Erie Co. will have had more than 400 new cases," Poloncarz wrote on Twitter. "As reported to me 'there is not one group/community causing the increase. Cases are occurring in every community."

Poloncarz and the Erie County Health Department later clarified the number after duplicating cases were removed.

The previous high was 277 on May 4, according to the Erie County coronavirus map. More than 14,000 people in Erie County have contracted the virus. 728 people have died.

The COVID rate Friday was 4.8% and the seven day rolling average is at 4%.

Governor Andrew Cuomo will announce a micro-cluster strategy for the region on Monday.
