Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Michael Murphy has filed a lawsuit against Shea’s following his dismissal last week. The theater says the suit is without merit.

Shea's announced Friday Murphy was no longer president of the theater after reports of a toxic workplace inside the landmark theater. Murphy's attorney LIsa Coppola harshly denies those claims. "They both are defamatory of Mr. Murphy, in that they are untrue. Statements made by Shea's employees to the public that have irreparably damaged Mr. Murphy's reputation in the community and in the theater community at large," contends Coppola.

Shea's issued the following statement: "This lawsuit is without merit, and it is unfortunate that Mr. Murphy chose this path. This is a desperate effort meant to intimidate Shea’s into an undeserved financial settlement. We intend to vigorously defend Shea’s against that. Due to this now being in litigation, we will have no further comment.”
