Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, where there will be a number of locations in Western New York for anyone to drop off your unwanted pills, no questions asked.
One of the locations will be Wegmans on Dick Road in Depew.
"You can bring any prescription drugs to the location. They just ask no liquids and no needles of any kind," said Depew Police Cpt. Cory Skok with WBEN.
All one has to do is just bring your prescription drugs by, and they'll package them up for you.
Skok says such an event is important for the community.
"You don't want to have those things laying around your house or creating a danger to somebody else, if they get in the wrong hands," Skok explained.
This event has been successful in the past.
"I've worked a few of them in the past, and we've had quite a few people bring prescription drugs," Skok said.
He adds a lot of people don't know about this drug drop off ahead of time, but people always say if they knew about it further in advance, they would definitely bring a lot more.
As many as 30 pounds of prescription pills get collected in a single day during one of these drop offs.
The drop off is set to take place from 10 a.m.-to-2 p.m. ET.
