Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - There is a change in the course for this Thanksgiving's YMCA Buffalo Niagara Turkey Trot. The course will take a loop starting and ending in Downtown Buffalo.

For decades, the race started near the YMCA Delaware Branch in North Buffalo, ending roughly five miles later at the Buffalo Convention Center. This year, the race will start at the convention center, take runners literally for a loop round Buffalo, circling back to the convention center for the finish line and post-race party.

"The new course offers easier access to day-of packet pick-up, indoor warm spaces, and restrooms at the Buffalo Convention Center. Spectators will also enjoy a better viewing experience, with the ability to see runners without traveling between separate start and finish lines," says The YMCA in a statement.

Registration for this year's YMCA Turkey Trot opens Friday, Aug. 7, 2026, at 11 a.m. at YMCATurkeyTrot.org.

WBEN's Tom Puckett will host the Turkey Trot for 24th straight time.
